What do you say of a man who inspires you everyday of your life, taught you everything you know, gave you everything you own, and has yet left you feeling that you would never match up to him?

A man whose energy was inexhaustible, curiosity insatiable and enthusiasm infectious. Who could develop life long relationships as easily as he could develop managers that would later be called ‘world class’. Who would give birth to a giant industrial empire as easily as he could give birth to a culture of excellence and innovation many decades before management gurus spoke of these values.

A man who made value the core of his being. Adding value to the life of every person he touched – child, brother, employee, shareholder or partner. Creating value through the many businesses he pioneered. Living values that he would run his business by.

And most importantly reinvesting all of this value back into the development of society to create a network of educational and social institutions, leaving the world one day a finer place to live in.

What do you call such a man? I have heard some call him a leader, some called him a legend.

I called him ‘father’. Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi.Padma Bhushan…
